This prestigious festival is being held in the capital city and other cities of Latvia for the eighth time, traditionally with the support of Rietumu Bank.
On Sunday the international tournament of the Association of Chess Professionals Cup in Riga was completed. The winner of the competition of the internationally acknowledged grandmasters was the Russian Champion and the World Blitz Champion Alexander Grishchuk.
Yesterday an international tournament of the Association of Chess Professionals Cup was opened in Riga. In the course of the draw, the opponents who will compete with each other over the coming several days have been determined. The prize fund amounts to USD 75 thousand.
The tournament is arranged with the support of Rietumu Bank in the gallery of the bank’s headquarters – Rietumu Capital Centre. The prize fund will amount USD 75 thousand.
As a result, around 20 gifted children from different regions of the country got an opportunity to continue their professional education in Latvia and abroad, as well as take part in international contests.
