This concert, with the participation of one of the world leading orchestras, has become one of the brightest events in the concert life of Jurmala this season.

The Jurmala performance of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, which included works by R. Strauss, À. Schoenberg, P. Tchaikovsky and M. Mussorgsky, was a sell-out and was completed to enthusiastic applause of the audience.

The Dzintari Concert Hall, open for its first season following its capital reconstruction, pleased the spectators with excellent acoustics and magnificent architecture. At present, a partner of this famous concert stage is Rietumu Bank.

According to Member of the Council of Rietumu Bank Alexander Gafin, “This concert of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by the world famous director Zubin Mehta, is undoubtedly one of the brightest and major cultural events in Latvia. It is symbolic that this concert was held in Dzintari. We see that Jurmala is changing its musical face and, in my opinion, it is only beneficial for it. The performance of such a star team is the best confirmation of this fact.

I would like to specifically note that the Dzintari Concert Hall, with which Rietumu Bank recently concluded a cooperation and partnership agreement, is also the organiser of this guest tour. We are very pleased that with our support such bright and remarkable cultural events are held here in Jurmala, the most beautiful resort in the Baltics.”

One of the famous guests who attended the concert, recognised musician and director of the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Grigory Kovalevsky noted, “I am again pleasantly impressed by how excellent the great symphonic works sound in the Dzintari Concert Hall. With full confidence, I can state that the opinion that Jurmala’s stage does not fit classical performances is absolutely erroneous. I am sure that many recognised musicians will gladly accept the invitation to perform in the Dzintari Concert Hall.”

Next year the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate its 80 th jubilee. It was established in 1936 in Palestine at the initiative of the violin virtuoso Bronislaw Huberman. Names of geniuses of music such as Arturo Toscanini, William Steinberg, Leonard Bernstein, Bernardino Molinari, Artur Rubinstein and many others are linked with this internationally recognised orchestra.
