International E-commerce Conference eCom21 has Opened in Riga

The forum, which has gathered together over 400 professional participants from different regions of the world, is held under the patronage of Rietumu Bank.

The current eCom21 focuses on the issues of structuring, building of a legal structure and taxation of e-commerce, optimisation of Internet solutions, practices of fraud prevention and specifics of modern payment mechanisms. A separate subject of the forum is the discussion on the theory and practice of the trend related to the area of probability theory, online games and gambling.

As the Head of the Organisation Committee of the conference, First Vice-president of Rietumu Bank Ruslan Stecyuk noted when opening eCom21 today, “The foundation for this conference was laid last year, when the first eCom21 took place – then the results surpassed all our expectations. From the very start, we set the goal of making this conference an authoritative discussion platform for businesses, where the most urgent trends of e-commerce are highlighted. Today about 450 participants have assembled in our hall, 50 speakers will hold their speeches and 25 countries are represented in total – this is much more than last year. I am sure that all of us will hear interesting reports and will have equally interesting discussions.”

In turn, Head of the company ECommPay, which is the general partner of the conference, Dmitry Sinkovich noted, “We see this forum as an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge and experience which help in building a solid foundation in the field of e-commerce. We wish to consolidate the traditions of holding such a conference in Riga, so that the conference also takes place regularly further on.”

For the second year in succession, a partner of the conference is the leader of the instant payments market QIWI. “Riga is a very comfortable platform for discussing the connection possibilities between European and Russian businesses,” said Chairman of the Board of the QIWI Group Andrey Romanenko when addressing the forum participants. He emphasised that Russian entrepreneurs are especially interested in payment making services offered by Latvian banks.

Among the speakers of the forum, are representatives of the leading international payment systems VISA and MasterCard, regulatory bodies of the European jurisdictions which are popular among online entrepreneurs – Malta, British Overseas Territories, Cyprus and Latvia; leading specialists and managers of global legal and auditing companies; developers of IT solutions and platforms for e-commerce; top managers of European and Russian companies on servicing online payments; other corporate participants and experts.
