The Geography of the eCom21 Conference Is Expanding

12 November 2014, 12:00
To participate in the biggest e-commerce conference in the region, over 300 participants from more than 30 countries have already registered.

The conference will open this Thursday and will last from 13 to 14 November.

This year the key subject is electronic money and its new trend – crypto-currencies. These issues are in the avant-garde of e-commerce on the international arena and are widely discussed on different levels, from IT experts and traders, up to representatives of government institutions. In the opinion of leading experts of the market, this trend has enormous potential for development which can be implemented, however, only upon solution of regulation issues regarding the e-money market and following a dynamic technological spurt.

“We are sure that in the nearest future electronic money will occupy increasingly more space in our daily life due to a number of reasons – these include convenience, speed, and independence.

Certainly, one restricting factor is a lack of confidence of many state regulators in the transparency of such transactions. Therefore, at times we see appeals to introduce changes to the legislation of certain countries, even up to a ban for virtual currencies. But, on the other hand, there are countries where virtual money is gradually being introduced.

We consider a decisive factor to be new opportunities for financial settlements, which change the currently established situation in the world, and a certain amount of time is required for people to get used to them. It is also required to develop a legislative base and create points of payment by a virtual currency, though this is, most obviously, just a matter of time,” says the speaker of the eCom21 conference, the director of the Russian representative office of the European data centre operator DEAC, Oleg Naskidaev.

Over 20 leading experts of the industry have already confirmed their participation in the conference as speakers, among them the Head of Bitcoin Foundation Jon Matonis, spokespersons of Russian leading payment systems QIWI, PayOnline, Yandex.Money, RBK.Money, Money Mail.ru, recognized Russian lawyer Mikhail Barshchevsky, spokespersons from VISA and MasterCard, UnionPayInternational, PaySysConsultancy, Neteller, CEX.IO, as well as representatives of law companies and public regulators.

As the Chairman of the eCom21 Organising Committee, the First Vice-president of Rietumu Bank Ruslan Stecyuk notes, “Preparation for the conference is about to be completed and I can surely say that this time it will be distinguished not only with a high professional level, but also with an expressed emphasis on one of the most prospective trends of modern online business. We hope for the highest expert level in discussing the tendencies and scenarios that are included in the agenda.

I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that apart from regular participants of our conference, this year there will be many of those attending it for the first time. I hope that eCom21 will be a useful and efficient business event for all.”
