On the International Nurses day, Riga Children University Hospital handed out annual awards „Honour of the Children Hospital” supported by Rietumu Charity Fund.

The award ceremony is held for the fourth consecutive year. Candidates are selected by the Council of Nurses and approved by the Hospital’s Board. The idea of this award belongs to Rietumu Charity Fund that raises money to award the best nurses.

This year, cash awards and special prizes - bronze apples - received the senior nurse of Trauma and Orthopaedics Unit Dace Binde and the nurse of the Unit of Intensive therapy for newborns Lorena Jansone, recognised as the most caring, loving and kind nurses of the hospital.

“A couple of years ago, when we started to help nurses, one of our key priorities was to attract attention of the government and the society to this profession. Everyone, who was in the hospital, understands how valuable a nurse’s work is, especially if it concerns children. The nurse’s kindness, care and love are usually as crucial for recuperation of a child, as professionalism of doctors”, notices Roman Mantrov, Board Member of Rietumu Charity.
