10 March 2009, 12:00

On 11 March, the second stage of “Looking for the Best Nurse” project organised and sponsored by Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund will be opened in Jelgava City Hospital. Mrs Lilita Zatlere, the spouse of the President of Latvia will be the event’s honorary patroness. Mrs Zatlere will also visit children’s departments of other Latvian hospitals this spring.

Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund in collaboration with the newspaper “Diena” commenced implementation of this unique project last year. The first stage of the project took place in Riga Children’s University Hospital. The core aim of the project is to recognise and award the most kind and loving children nurses as well as to emphasise the ultimate importance of the nurse’s profession. As a result of the first stage, 60 best nurses were awarded with diplomas and money awards.

The second stage of the project will be held in 28 regional hospitals from 11 March to 11 June, where its former and present patients, their parents and friends can express their gratitude to best nurses, who looked after them. The best nurses, who received most of grateful references, will be invited to Riga around Ligo. Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund will award them with cash prizes and Mrs Zatlere will invite them to a welcome reception at Riga Castle.
