In Expectation of the Biennale: a New Guidebook to the World of Contemporary Art

2 September 2015, 12:00
Less than a month remains until the VI Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art. This year the structure of the biennale has been changed considerably. Instead of one trustee, there are three: Bart De Baere, Defne Ayas and Nicolaus Schafhausen. Moreover, no installations are expected, as there has been before. According to the idea of the organisers, artists will create the biennale in online mode, right in front of the eyes of visitors. Therefore, the main accent is laid on the conduction of public discussions, performances and master classes.

Within the framework of the biennale, the main project “How shall we live together?” will be held, as well as special projects, among which there will be “Panopticon”, as well as parallel programmes. In total, artists from all over the world will present 80 projects which will be arranged on 40 different platforms: in the three pavilions at VDNKh – Central, Public Education and Nuclear Energy, as well as in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Garage Museum, the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre.

In order not to miss anything and to stay abreast of the latest events, with the support of the general partner of the biennale – Rietumu Bank, an official online resource has been created, which is a kind of guidebook – Rietumu Around Art. The site will publish the latest news, unique interviews with artists, photo reports from the platforms and other fascinating materials.
