Rietumu Bank is going to take part at the largest Russian exhibition of transport and logistics TransRussia that will be held in Moscow on 23-25 April.

For 18 years TransRussia has been one of the central events in Russia for major local and foreign companies engaged in transportation, transit, port business, logistics, and the financing of these industries.

As the banking leader in Latvia for the servicing of international companies and trade finance, Rietumu Bank will be participating at TransRussia for the second time.

According to Member of the Board of Rietumu Bank, Renat Lokomet: “Our debut last year at TransRussia was very successful – the established contacts have transformed into real cooperation with a high “coefficient of efficiency”. Currently many trading houses are starting to actively operate internationally. For this, they are increasingly choosing Latvia as their operational base with its developed infrastructure, excellent services, and unique geographical position at the meeting of East and West. On our part, we provide such companies with financing opportunities that allow them to expand their businesses and start operating in new regions.”

Latvian ports are used to transport freights from/to Russia and other CIS countries to Europe, including consumer goods imports from China. According to statistical data, last year the volume of freight transhipment via Latvian ports increased by more than 11%, and freight transit volume by rail via ports by more than 7%.

Rietumu Bank has a wide range of opportunities for the financing of trade transactions for clients, including various short-term lending secured by commodity, export factoring, documentary LC, collection of payments and guarantees. Rietumu Bank is de facto the only big bank in the Baltic countries specialising in such services.

Clients of Rietumu Bank are also provided with financing for developing shipping business – mostly projects in the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Sea of Azov and Caspian Sea, as well as rolling stock modernisation for delivering freight by rail.

This year, Rietumu Bank is participating at the TransRussia exhibition jointly with Riga Commercial Port and the Latvian logistic company SRR.

“Riga Commercial Port is the leading investor, developer and operator of port assets and transport companies in Latvia. Companies in the Group provide stevedore services and support in the forwarding of bulk cargo, railway transportation, and the development of port capacities. At the TransRussia exhibition, Riga Commercial Port is present for the fifth successive year, and our participation at the forum with Rietumu Bank and SRR will further strengthen our position on the market of transport and logistics,” commented the Head of the Marketing and PR Department of Riga Commercial Port, Kristine Vizule.

The Head of the Sales Department of SRR, Sergey Karpov, notes: “As one of the leading railway and logistic companies in Latvia, SRR annually participates at the largest transport forum in Eastern Europe - TransRussia. Cooperation with Riga Commercial Port and one of the biggest banks in the Baltic countries, Rietumu, which is widely presented on the CIS market, will allow our clients a wide range of solutions, including transportation, transhipment and the financing of freight. I am sure that the creation of easier conditions for doing business will contribute increased competitiveness, growth of freight traffic, and the extension of our client base.”

Last year, apart from Russian participants, there were twelve national expositions at TransRussia – from Germany, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium, Belarus, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Spain, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. This year the list is expected to be even broader.
