One of the founders, shareholders and heads of Rietumu Bank since the early-90s. Since 1995 – President, since 1998 – Deputy Chairman of the Council. Public figure. Leader of the Jewish community of Latvia, since the mid-90s has actively participated in its return. Senior Project Manager for the reconstruction of Riga Synagogue, as well as memorials to Latvian Holocaust victims, actively engaged with international Jewish organisations. Known for his active involvement in charity, Chairman of the Council of the Rietumu Bank Charity Fund and Member of the Society of Guarantors of Riga Russian Theatre. Dermot Desmond

One of Rietumu Bank’s three biggest shareholders. Born in Ireland.His business career has included Citibank in Dublin, the Investment Bank of Ireland, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.In 1981 Mr. Desmond established NCB, which subsequently became the biggest independent brokers’ company in Ireland; in 1994 it was acquired by the National Westminster Bank and then by the Royal Bank of Scotland.He was also the founder of the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC). Dermot is one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs, and has been a very successful international investor for many years. He has also been the founder - or initial investor - in numerous businesses, especially in the technological sector, including Baltimore Technologies and Esat Digifone. Rietumu Bank shareholder since 2005.
Valentin Bluger

One of the most recognised and competent Latvian law and advocacy specialists. Mr. Bluger graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia; even while still an undergraduate, he became a member of the Latvian Council of Sworn Advocates. He was one of the first lawyers in Latvia and the former USSR in the late 1980s to have a professional internship in the USA (Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee; law office Carro, Spanbock, Kaster & Cuiffo, New York). Field of expertise: entrepreneurship, contractual law, merging and acquisition of shares, outward investments, telecommunications, international transactions, banking law, advertising. Valentin likes sport, and competes in amateur ice hockey tournaments. Member of the Board of the Latvian Ice Hockey Federation. Member of Rietumu Bank Council since the mid-90s, with responsibility for legal issues concerning the bank’s operation.
